Who are Ready2Lease?

Ready2Lease is an independent leasing broker.  Operated from our office in Leicester, our team consists of two front line directors, James and Geoff.  Our administration and compliance takes place at our partners site in Northampton.  The business began in 2020 and has since grown to deliver 100's of new cars and vans every year.  We pride ourselves on fair prices, top quality service, no call centres and no nonsense.  We are keen to continue to grow the business and support our local community by sponsoring grass roots sport teams.  Our phone lines are open 6 days a week, including bank holidays and emails are often monitored out of hours, including evenings and weekends.  We do not hold any vehicles on site, in fact we very rarely see any cars as they move direct from manufacturer factories, into pre-delivery inspection sites (PDI) and then delivered to the end user.

More about car leasing

Leasing a car in the UK has become an increasingly popular option for individuals and businesses alike, offering an alternative to traditional car ownership. This arrangement allows you to essentially rent a vehicle for a fixed period, typically between two and five years (although often capped at four years for some offers) in exchange for a monthly payment. Here's a comprehensive overview of leasing a car in the UK from Ready2Lease.

The process of leasing a car begins with selecting the vehicle you wish to lease. Most manufacturers and dealerships offer a range of leasing options, allowing you to choose from various models, trim levels, and specifications. Once you've identified the car that suits your needs and budget, you'll need to decide on the lease terms, including the duration of the contract and the anticipated annual mileage.

One of the primary advantages of leasing a car is that it often requires a lower upfront payment compared to purchasing a vehicle outright. Typically, you'll need to pay an initial rental fee, which can range from one to twelve months' worth of rental payments.  You can also choose to nominate a certain amount, for example £1000.  This initial payment is often lower than the deposit required when purchasing a car through traditional financing methods and gives you flexibility on how you pay for the vehicle.

During the lease period, you'll be responsible for making fixed monthly payments, which can be lower than the monthly instalments associated with car purchase finance agreements. These payments are calculated based on the vehicle's expected depreciation over the lease term, rather than the full purchase price. It's important to note that the monthly payments do not contribute towards ownership of the vehicle; you're essentially paying for the use of the car during the lease period.

Do I need to worry about the residual value of a lease car?

No not at all, the residual value is not shared with us as a broker nor with the end user.  It is commercially sensitive and whilst it does form part of the equation for the monthly price, if it changes during the lease there is no knock-on effect to the end user.

Leasing agreements typically come with mileage restrictions, which are set at the start of the contract. If you exceed the agreed annual mileage limit, you may be subject to additional fees at the end of the lease term. It's crucial to carefully consider your anticipated driving habits and choose a mileage limit that aligns with your needs to avoid incurring unexpected charges.  Excess mileage charges vary depending on the car you choose and whether or not you include a service plan.  They are not supposed to be disproportionate in terms of cost and are clearly shown before a lease is started.

Maintenance and service costs can be included in the leasing package, providing peace of mind and predictable expenses throughout the lease term. However, it's essential to review the specific terms and conditions of your lease agreement, as some plans may exclude certain maintenance items or have additional charges for excessive wear and tear.  Breakdown cover is generally included for at least 12 months of the agreement, with many lenders increasing it to cover the full term at no extra cost.

At the end of the lease period, we will contact you to discuss the provision of a new vehicle.  There is no obligation to take another lease from Ready2lease or any other provider if you do not wish, you simply arrange the free of charge collection of your vehicle with the lenders nominated logistics partner.

It's worth noting that leasing a car is not the same as owning it, and there may be restrictions on modifications or customizations you can make to the vehicle. Additionally, you'll need to consider the potential implications of early termination if your circumstances change during the lease term, as this may incur additional fees or penalties.  Dealer fit accessories such as tow bars can be added and need not be removed at the end of the lease.  You must ensure any damage caused by fitting of such options is rectified to avoid end of contact charges.

Leasing a car in the UK can be an attractive option for those who prefer to drive a new or nearly-new vehicle regularly, without the long-term commitment and depreciation associated with ownership. It can also provide a more predictable and potentially lower monthly cost, especially for individuals or businesses with fluctuating transportation needs.
