What is a hybrid Qashqai and how does it work?

A hybrid car is a vehicle that uses both a petrol or diesel powered internal combustion engine and an electric motor to power its wheels. The two power sources work together in different ways depending on the driving conditions, and this combination of petrol or diesel and electric power can result in increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

There are two main types of hybrid cars: regular hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Regular hybrids use the
petrol or diesel engine to power the car at higher speeds, while the electric motor kicks in at lower speeds or when the car is idling. The electric motor is powered by a battery that is charged by the petrol or diesel engine or through regenerative braking, which captures energy normally lost during braking and uses it to charge the battery.

Plug-in hybrids work in a similar way, but they have larger batteries that can be recharged by plugging into an external power source, like a wall outlet or charging station. This allows the car to drive for longer distances on electric power alone, before the
petrol or diesel engine needs to kick in.

Both types of hybrid cars use a complex computer system to manage the power flow between the engine and motor, depending on factors like speed, acceleration, and battery charge level. This allows the car to operate in the most efficient way possible, maximizing fuel economy and minimizing emissions.
