Is the Skoda Octavia Estate a good car overall?
The Skoda Octavia Estate is amongst the biggest estate cars available for lease, and my word is it cheap. But is it as good as its competition, namely the Ford Focus and VW Golf.
Today we are featuring the 1.5 Petrol, Manual, SE Technology. Looks wise its not going to be featured in Vogue anytime soon, but the Czech manufacturer which celebrates its 100-year birthday in around 18 months isn’t too fixated on that element. For Skoda, this car and specifically this trim (which they admit is specifically aimed at the contract hire / leasing market) is all about offering value for money and safety. And it absolutely nails it.
Practicality of the Skoda Octavia Estate
Adults in the front, adults in the back, and an enormous boot mean there is no shortage of space for long journeys, particularly if you have multiple kids and all their kit in the back. Don’t let the big shape discourage you from shorter journeys though. It has a conveniently light manual gearbox and steering set up. The suspension too is relaxed and comfortable on most road types & the turning circle is shorter than that of a Ford Focus Estate.
Is the Skoda Octavia Estate easy to park?
From what we can see, the Octavia is a dream to park. There are no big blind spots, you get a massive back window and rear parking sensors are fitted as standard. Our offer on the 1.5 SE Tech also comes with front sensors included, along with manoeuvre assist.
Is the Skoda Octavia Estate nice to drive?
A few things we love are the cabin noise, which even on a busy motorway manages to keep road noise to a low level and the engines cruise without too much grunt. The 16” alloy wheels stick to the road well, and whilst the steering isn’t exactly racing spec, it does enough to keep you engaged with the roads ahead. The entertainment console is big and functional, with Columbus navigation included on the 10 Inch touchscreen display.
Is the Skoda Octavia a safe car to drive?
The 2024 Skoda Octavia Estate scored a flat out 5 stars from Euro NCAP back in 2019, which is derived from a combination of airbags, and AEB (Automatic emergency braking) that can detect other road users, including pedestrians. Other features include a driver fatigue warning, front assist, lane assist and turn assist. ISOFIX is standard on the front passenger seat and outer rear seats.
